Every single year, the rainy situation in Brazil stops granite production. Dangerous mudslides from the rain make it impossible to carry blocks off the mountains.
Luckily, I generally overcompensate in purchases nearing the end of the year in Brazilian containers. Due to our years of experience, we will have most of our products in Inventory when we need it this year.

Due to receiving a large amount of containers this month, plus the vast amounts we received last month, I believe (with few exceptions) we will be ready when the market starts increasing again in Mid-February. That being said, we were pleasantly surprised by a late drop in sales for December up until Christmas and New Year and early indications says we are getting busier earlier. All are great market indicators for 2012.

Let’s make sure to keep our names out there looking to close all possible deals. A good start in the right directions will help us stay ahead of our competition.

We decided to make a splash in our advertising this year. By next month you will see regional and national magazines featuring Granite Express advertisements (Florida Design, Miami Décor, Stone World Magazine and others ). We have to make sure to display our materials effectively and in high regard in hopes of growing and constantly improving our image.
I will send quarry and material posters to be displayed in all our offices/showrooms.

These advertisements and posters will feature our new material (Calacata Tropical + plus Onyx and high end exotics ).

We are moving multiple locations to indoor facilities (Sarasota and Orlando) to help protect and display our ever-growing inventory. All of these aggressive changes are a step in the right direction, but I can’t do this alone.
We all have to step up this year.

This will be Granite Express’ year. We are taking the company in the right direction, and it will benefit everyone (the associates, the customers, the designers). With these changes, we will try to find a way to close more sales with designers and architects, while keeping and growing our regular client base.

I’m 100% committed to our company, and hold all of you in the highest regard. I hope I can count on the Granite Express Team now more than ever.

To all associates:

I personally am very proud that our company has grown so much in the last ten years. It’s hard for me to fathom that we’re still growing every day. In the growing process, we must never lose our main focus: our customers.

Besides our customers, we all need to share in the concern of our expenses. We need to focus some of our energies on bringing down our overhead. This needs to be a concern shared by all associates, from managers to warehouse crew.

Our best asset is our associates. I personally count on all of you every single day, and we should always be ready to serve our customers. Our customers are all of our bosses.

Also, let’s work on finding the advertisement and let’s find the promotions that work the best in each area. We’re getting to a point where we should be able to take care of all material needs for our customers. Let’s make it a standard operating procedure from this day forward to keep a sheet in the office of material requests by customers that we could not fulfill.

We must focus on keeping The Granite Express Family the best it can be, and remember: Our customers have the best choice and we have material for whatever is in his budget.

Let’s keep our company the best that it can be.

Since 1998, Granite Express has been your source for granite and we would like to thank you. It’s no secret the economy has gotten worse over the last year. In these times, we have continued to expand and grow and I want to personally thank you, our customers for making this all possible.
